Howdy! An Introduction

Howdy Folks !

Why am I starting a blog?  Because.  I got that answer a lot as a kid, from my momma.

Why " Rantings of a Redneck Decorator?" I'm a decorator by trade.  A Redneck by birth.  Born and raised on a farm in southeast MO.  Cows, chickens, goats, horses and pigs.  Fields, tractors, farm houses, tenant shacks, barns and pastures.  Lots of Rednecks. I will always capitalize Redneck, we are proper nouns.  Dads drove trucks (with the name of the farm on the doors) moms drove cars. When I moved to the city, I found the mixing of vehicles and gender confusing. I worked hard as a kid, gave me good work ethics.  Life was pretty simple.  My family was southern to the bones.  Parents from TN.  Five children who love each other very much, Mom and Dad are gone.  Church was the center of our social life.  Fourth of July was big.  Christmas was bigger!

I have worked in the Interior Design and Antiques industry for 35 years. I often find the "Society" aspect confusing and hypocritical, a bunch of hocus-pocus bullshit.  I try to keep it real.

Life has lead me on some pretty wild rides.  At 59 I'm reflecting on the start and the journey.  It has not always been easy.  Lots of highs, some pretty deep holes.  I've had times of success and times when I didn't have a pot to piss in.  I've been  on top of the world and lived under my bed for days. I'm a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. Twenty years sober. I'm diagnosed bipolar.  Fifty nine years crazy.

My life reads like a Lifetime Movie with B actors.

I've reflected a lot in the last 3 years as I've started my new business. I've pulled my boots up and started living again. Everyday is an adventure.

Redneck is my roots, humble and country. That gives me a foundation. Throw in all the rest, a lot rattles around in my head! It's made me who I am. I'm proud of my heritage.

I'm creative and good at my work. All the elements mentioned above have given me my talent. I've been things and seen places.

Rant! Oh yes! I can rant! I'm a 59 year old  opinionated, sarcastic gay man. Lots of opinions and Davidisms.

Good - sometimes.
Wrong - lots of the time.
Creative - all the time.
Re-evaluate - always.

Do my opinions matter? Not really. But I'm going to rant about them anyway. Opinions are like ass holes, we all have one and know several.

My blog is going to be offensive sometimes (I never intend to hurt). Politically incorrect (I'm tired of a sugar coated world). Funny? I hope! Damn I love to laugh! I cuss like a sailor! So be prepared. I hope to tell it like it is. Or at least as it is in my head.

Topics will be all over the board. Lots on design, antiques, life lessons learned and in progress of learning. Stories, southerners love to share stories.

To the side you will find a glossary. You will need to refer to it, I speak David. My good friends understand David. I hope you take the time to learn a new language, it makes you younger.

My blog will evolve. Come back and see what needle is up my ass. You don't need to always agree, but I hope I can make you think, smile and laugh.

Curtis Mayfield's huge hit always applies!

You made me smile and laugh. Made me a little sad for the good ole days. I look forward to your ramblings and rants. You were good at it 45 years ago and you've only improved with age. Loved you then, love you now.
